How can Lifestyle Resolutions help you?
My approach is slightly different to many mainstream Hypnotherapists. I have a health and nutrition background working with people who have or have had, chronic illness, helping those lead happier and healthier lifestyles. I understand, first-hand, the importance of a well-balanced healthy lifestyle and its positive effects on mood, emotion, energy, cognitive function and overall health and well-being.
With my many years of experience and the vast number of people I have motivated to become healthier, I can help you establish, implement and sustain the positive changes needed to live a happier, fulfilling and healthier life.
Your first session
During your first session, the initial consultation, you will be required to fill out a client screening health questionnaire. It is important that I establish as much as I can about you so as I can give you the best possible treatment plan. We will discuss your lifestyle and your current way of thinking. I will introduce you slowly to hypnosis by means of a light state of trance, so as on your next visit you will feel more relaxed and therefore more receptive to Hypnotherapy.
How hypnotherapy works
Our mind has two parts, a “Conscious” and “Subconscious”.
The conscious mind is the smaller part and this is rational, critical, analytical and objective, always in a state of awareness.
The greater subconscious mind controls our decision-making process based on our upbringing, education, beliefs, emotions, experience, thoughts and feelings. All these together work to decide whether we do something, avoid something, fear something or enjoy something.
The subconscious mind is like a powerful computer, it stores all the information we have seen, heard, tasted, smelled and touched. Our emotions, feelings and instincts and habits, are anchored here. It stores our fears, phobias, bad habits and limiting beliefs. This is why some people struggle to make and sustain changes that they really want make, for example eating too much of the wrong foods….Simply put, their conscious logical mind knows that its bad for them, however, their subconscious mind makes the decision whether they will or won’t eat too much of the wrong food.
Hypnotherapy works on helping you change those subconscious limiting beliefs, fears and phobias as the subconscious mind can be altered by changing your thought patterns, like re-programming a computer and getting it work how you want it to.
During a typical hypnotherapy session, you are guided to achieve a deepened state of relaxation (also known as trance) using skilled and effective relaxation techniques. This is known as Hypnosis. When you are in this relaxed state the subconscious mind becomes very aware and receptive to new perspectives, ideas and positive suggestions. So, the subconscious mind can be changed, over a period of time and practice, to feel how you want to feel or to dispel any negative limiting beliefs.
Hypnosis is natural and perfectly safe. It is a state of altered awareness characterised by a feeling of relaxation and ‘letting go’. We all drift in and out of different levels of awareness many times each day. A good example is if you have ever driven from one place to another and cant recall parts of the journey, or if you have read a book and become so absorbed in it that you have lost track of time and been unaware of your surroundings. You are always in control during hypnosis and you can break a state of trance at any time. You will only manage a state of trance if you want to be hypnotised (it is not magic).
